With a commitment to our vision that strong relationships drive strong results and better business, our people make Cooper Machinery Services legendary. Job Overview:The Mechanic I will perform duties related to the disassembly, positioning, reassembly, testing and painting of moderate to highly complex equipment utilizing a combination of manual, pneumatic and hydraulic tools for fitting, adjusting and securing maneuvers. Clean inspect and repair Natural gas engine and compressor components in a shop environment, must be able to adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations, Be capable of reading detailed prints, use and read micrometers, dial calipers and dial indicators. Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:In the role of the Mechanic I, you will:Conduct all business-related tasks according to Cooper Machinery Services policiesDemonstrates an understanding of basic technical/machining principles. Tasks assigned are simple and routine in nature.Participates in problem solving exercises with trainer, lead, and supervisor.Demonstrates the ability to solve basic problems. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems. Troubleshoots problems, on machine and makes required corrections. If necessary, consults with supervisor and or lead person for assistance in dealing with complex problems. Recognizes problems in machining process and reports to appropriate supervisor and/or lead person in a timely manner.Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Cooper Machinery Services BeliefsMaintain a safe, clean, and organized working environmentHave strong mechanical aptitude with an Oil & Gas background as well as the ability to use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipmentComplete Risk Assessments prior to performing all operations and light to heavy weight material movements by means of cranes and lift trucksComplete all required business training and process documentation, as requiredBe responsible for ensuring facility equipment and tooling is accounted for, operating efficiently, and safelyIdentify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during equipment disassembly, assembly and test set-upPossess excellent Communication, Teamwork, and Collaborative Skills with team members and basic understanding of working to production schedules / plansTroubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical tooling & equipmentComplete required documentation with accurate information for routers, documents and inspection reportsPerform other related duties as assigned or indicated by management Qualifications/RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required. Preference of one-year certificate from technical school/college.0-1 year of experience in mechanical test and assembly / disassembly or heavy equipment repairs and maintenance Eligibility Requirements Work overtime, weekends and holidays as requiredWork in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activitiesBe in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as requiredLift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of timeTravel within the US to work at customer locations or other GE facilities as neededHandle heavy parts and moving partsSubjected to the following: extreme heat that could exceed 500 degrees, enclosed areas, heights, and awkward positions, exposure to eye injuries, noise, dust, burns, & arc flashes, exposure to high noise levels for long periods of time, as requiredWork inside and outside, as requiredInterpret drawings, prints, drawings and engineering specifications to perform moderately complex, repetitive disassembly and reassembly tasks of all pressure control equipmentPossess or obtain forklift operator license and certification to operate overhead cranesWear PPE or Personal Protective Equipment - Hearing and eye protection (safety equipment) must be usedOperate pneumatic and hydraulic torque toolsComply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations and maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areasPossess a valid driver’s license Desired Characteristics Minimum 0-1 years of experience in Operations / service center operation applications or minimum 0-1 years of total relevant operation experienceStrong knowledge of existing natural gas engine and compressor cylinder equipment.Team playerAbility to work un-directed per engineering specifications and inspect own work for integrity and qualityAbility to perform highly complex troubleshooting and repair of equipmentAbility to setup and run test operations on basic and moderately complex sub-assemblies and final assemblies following engineering drawings, parts specifications, assembly procedures and/or verbal instructionsAbility to perform hydro pressure testing and functional testing of productKnowledgeable in good housekeeping requirements and all safety regulationsBasic math skillsAbility to read schematicsMechanical aptitudeFamiliarity with toolsPrevious manufacturing / shop service center operations experience Cooper Machinery Services is an equal opportunity employer and gives all qualified applicants consideration of employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, any other characteristic protected by law.
